Leadership - Mike Pickett

Mike Pickett is an Adjunct Instructor and Senior Faculty Member of Enterprising Securities based in San Antonio , TX . Mr. Pickett's responsibilities include educational programs involving improvised explosive devices (i.e.d.s), military ordnance, Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) and medical assistance.

As the President and CEO of Pickett's Primer on Explosives based in San Antonio , TX He has over 37 years experience as a firefighter and 8 years as an EMT. First introduced to the explosives trade as an aerospace munitions officer in the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Pickett worked on nuclear, chemical weapons and conventional ordnance.  He holds both a Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Chemistry with minors in Nuclear Physics and Mathematics and a Masters degree in Urban Planning.  He is currently a Professor Emeritus at San Antonio College where he was head of Fire Science and Regional Fire Training Academy for 25 years in their Protective Services Departments. 

A Vietnam Veteran, Firefighter, and Counterterrorism Expert, Mr. Pickett realized the need for explosives training after witnessing numerous events of maiming, serious bodily injuries and deaths where first responders, emergency personnel, and private citizens were affected by the mishandling and lack of knowledge in identifying explosives.  Pickett's Primer was first formed as an information and training source for individuals and organizations for the identification and correct response to commercial explosives, military ordnance, home-made bombs and bomb search procedures and weapons of mass destruction. He has dedicated Pickett's Primer to providing training and knowledge to first responders and security personnel to prevent as many injuries as possible from explosive accidents.

Professor Pickett is an internationally recognized speaker, author and educator. He maintains active memberships in the National Explosives Ordnance (EOD) Association and the Air Force's Explosive Ordnance (EOD) Master Blasters Association. He also holds membership with the American Society for Industrial Security International (ASIS) and the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD).
